How long is a visit?
Initial Lactation Consultations are 90 minutes, follow-up sessions are 60 minutes.
I'm not currently latching my baby, only pumping and bottle feeding - can you still help me?
YES! We are proud to offer support in breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, starting solids, and even weaning!
I think my baby has a tongue-tie - can you help?
At The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County we pride ourselves on taking a holistic approach towards assessing and managing the treatment of tethered oral tissues (tongue-ties, lip-ties, and even buccal ties).
Payment:
Do you take Insurance?
We are proud to work with many PPO insurance companies allowing families to maximize coverage (often at 100%!). If we do not currently offer coverage for your specific insurance plan, you are welcome to use our self-pay options and a superbill receipt can be provided. A superbill receipt can be used to submit a reimbursement claim directly to your insurance provider.
How can I check if my insurance will cover my visit?
Check your insurance coverage HERE or email us hello@breastfeedoc.com and we can guide you on the best way to confirm your coverage.
What forms of payment do you accept?

Visit Locations:
Where can we meet?
The Breastfeeding Center of Orange County is located in Laguna Hills, California. We also offer consultations at clients’ homes in most Orange County cities, and virtually via a secure telehealth platform.

Yes! We can support clients all of the world via our secure telehealth platform!
Scheduling:
How do I schedule an appointment?
For your convenience, visits can be self-scheduled via our website at www.breastfeedOC.com/schedule. If you need any assistance with scheduling you can call or text us at 949-698-9000.
How soon can you see me?
We often have openings within 24-48 hours and occasionally we have same day appointments as well! If you do not see an appointment available through our online schedule that meets your needs, please text 949-698-9000. We always do our best to accommodate!
Can I schedule a visit before my baby arrives?
Prenatal Lactation Consultations are encouraged! These prenatal visits allow you to gather important information and knowledge to help you feel more confident and prepared to breastfeed from the moment your baby is born! Another benefit of a private prenatal lactation consultation is getting a flange fitting done so you can be prepared with a correct flange if pumping is necessary sooner than expected.
How to prepare for my consultations?
Can I feed my baby before the visit?
If possible, we recommend not feeding your baby before our visit so we can observe a feeding together. If your baby needs to feed before we arrive, please feed your baby! We will still maximize our time together and get a start on creating a plan for you to reach your goals.
What should I bring with me?
Bring yourself and your baby if we are working on latching challenges. If you are pumping or bottle feeding, it is helpful to bring these items to our consultation as well. If your baby is receiving any supplement or experiencing bottle refusal, please bring breastmilk or formula to your visit.
Home Visits and Travel:
What areas do you offer home visits?
We offer home visits in most cities throughout Orange County - Aliso Viejo, Corona Del Mar, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Tustin. We can travel to other cities in Orange County for an additional fee.
How much are travel fees?
Travel fees vary depending on insurance coverage and location. Please reach out to us at hello@breastfeedoc.com for specific travel fees for your payment method and location. Travel fees are NOT billable or reimbursable to insurance.
I scheduled a home visit, is there anything else I need to do to prepare?
We are happy to support you in your home. We are professional practitioners, not visitors. We do not care about your laundry piles or dirty dishes! If you have pets, please keep them in a separate area for the duration of our visit together. Even the nicest pets have been known to get extra protective around a new baby.
